Thank You !
A big thank you to everyone who helped with the campaign. Your time, energy and commitment gave Labour a real voice at the election and gave the people of Kenilworth and Southam a real choice at the ballot box, essential in any democracy
During the campaign I was able to put Labour's case at hustings organised by Churches Together in Kenilworth and the University of Warwick on our policies regarding: older people, climate change and schools. I also gave several of media interviews including a live television debate on BBC Midlands Today and several interviews on BBC radio Coventry and Warwickshire. Together we delivered thousands of leaflets to people's homes and I met many supporters on the campaign trail who like me are proud of Labour's record in government
Campaigning door to door enabled us to highlight some really important local issues including the future of Kenilworth Nursery School and Southam and District Children's Centre. As a result we were able to extract a public assurance from Jeremy Wright MP and Tory controlled Warwickshire County Council that Kenilworth Nursery School will remain open and be developed as a centre of excellence. I will watch carefully to check that they keep their word
Despite the national swing against the government, a very strong campaign by the Liberal Democrats and feelings running very high in some villages over the route of the high speed rail link, announced just before the start of the campaign, our vote held up well. Together I know we have made a difference and going forward we now have a good base upon which to build
I'm very proud to have stood as your candidate. Thank you again
Best wishes
